The Umbria Jazz Festival takes place every year in the second or third week of July. It was launched in 1973, and is today one of the most important jazz festivals in Europe.

Throughout the city, you can visit a vast number of other free concerts, on the open air stage in front of the cathedral or in the Giardini Carducci park.

Of course there is also a typical New Orleans Marching Band, playing in the picturesque streets of Perugia.

At the Teatro Morlacchi you can listen to "chamber jazz" with quartets and solo pianists.

And if you're still awake late at night, you can round off the day with a glass of wine and live music in one of the many bars and hotel lounges.

The concerts with the stars take place in the Arena Santa Giuliana, a sport stadium on the outskirts of the old town. The prices of the tickets are - compared to other events of this kind - more than affordable.

Fans of Latin American music (like us) will also get their money's worth!

On Friday July 12th, 2024, Richard Galliano will present his versions of the Argentine tango in jazz mode.

On Saturday July 13th, 2024, Lenny Kravitz, a rock legend, will perform.

On Tuesday July 15th, 2024, fans of jazz at its finest will get their money's worth: Brad Mehldau and Gil Evans.

On Friday July 19th, 2024, Roberto Fonseca will get Perugia dancing salsa

The Pacific Mambo Orchestra will round off the event on Sunday July 21st, 2024 and the crowd will dance until they drop!
