La Rogaia Organic Extravergine Olive Oil
Olive oil from Umbria is among the most precious in Italy and worldwide. On the hills of Umbria and Tuscany matures an oil with sophisticated nutty flavours and very low acidity.
The olives are carefully picked by hand. We only offer olive oil from the first pressing, exclusively cold pressed by mechanical means, which corresponds to the highest quality standards.
You can buy our oil in glass bottles of ¼ l, ½ l and 1 l as well as in tin cans of 1 l, 2 l and 5 l . Make a special present with our wooden gift box containing 2 l of oil in glass bottles, with personalized label upon request.
Our herbs and scents
When we started to farm at La Rogaia we wanted to do it in a sustainable and ecological way: with no waste of water, no herbicides, pesticides or insecticides.
Thereforewe deceided to grow lavender, rosmary and scented roses and some cut flowers in spring.
We transform the herbs and flowers into potpourris, scented sachets, soaps, essential oils, hydrolates and scented candles. You can taste all our products in the show case at the „Camerone“, the common room.
Ancient varieties of fruit trees
In former times Umbria was rich in fruits that were well adapted to soil and climatic conditions. Each valley had its own species. At La Rogaia we found an old orchard with quints, apples, apricots, plums, figs, cherries and sloes.
We have not yet been able to identify the exact variety of each tree but we look forward each year to harvest their tasty fruits and make them into jams, jellies, chutneys and liqueurs.
At La Rogaia we have started to create a botanical educational path which will give you an overview of local wild and cultivated plants.
Of course we also grow our own vegetable at La Rogaia which you can purchase during your vacation. We also have a small vineyard but we do not make wine but just eat the sweet and delicious grapes.
